Glacier's Northern Miner group held a very successful symposium in London, England, today, focused on Canadian mining investment.

The one-day event was hosted in partnership with PDAC, the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada, and included a host of Canadian mining executives, including Kelvin Dushnisky, President of Barrick Gold, Robert Friedland (pictured, left), Executive Chairman and Founder of Ivanhoe Mines, David Garofalo, President and CEO of Goldcorp, Lukas Lundin, Chairman of Lundin Mining, and Rob McEwen, CEO, Director and Chief Owner of McEwen Mining.

It took place at Canada House adjacent to Trafalgar Square.

Speakers and panelists examined opportunities for Aboriginal communities derived from mine development, as well as investment strategies for Canadian companies, Canada's role within the global mining sector, plus a deeper look at specific geological and geographic growth opportunities within Canada.

Journalists shared insights from the symposium during the day via social media.

Anthony Vaccaro (pictured above, right), Group Publisher of The Northern Miner, was delighted with the event.

"This was our first event outside of North America and we are delighted with the outcome. It is crucial to demonstrate to a global audience the excellent work being undertaken by Canada's mining sector.

"The feedback today from speakers and delegates has been very positive. My thanks to our sponsors and staff for helping to make this happen."

Bill Whitelaw, Executive Vice-President of Business Information with Glacier Media, said: "Mining, together with agriculture and energy, are key resource sectors for Glacier. This kind of event illustrates the importance of Canada's mining industry in a global context, in terms of current production and future demand trends."
